Scharf Construction was founded by Rick Scharf, who started his contracting career in snow removal back in 1977. In 1987, he established Scharf Construction Co. LLC, building a business around concrete work, trucking, and construction. When he acquired Dale’s Trucking in 1995, the hauling side of the operation grew to match the concrete services that had been at the core of the business from the start.
Over the years, we’ve built a reputation for quality work and understanding what it takes to get the job done right. Today, Rick continues to grow the business—serving the St. Louis area and taking on projects across Missouri and beyond.
Building Careers in the Trades
We’ve been a unionized company since 1987 and have stayed connected to the union community in St. Louis. Over the years, we’ve brought on workers as apprentices and helped them build their careers in the trades.
Involved in the Industry
Rick has been a member of the SITE Improvement Association since 1991 and serves on their board of directors. This keeps our operation connected to what’s happening in the industry and ensures we understand the needs of the contractors we serve.
A New Venture in 2025
In 2025, Rick started Scharf Compost Farm to bring together decades of experience with a focus on what contractors actually need. A reliable place to drop off compost. Quality materials to pick up. And service backed by a team that understands the business.
